Boxers stay puppyish for years and burn through energy accordingly. High-quality protein, durable toys that survive a boxer's play style, and heat-aware gear for Indian weather are what this breed's list is built on.

Boxer cardiomyopathy is well documented in the breed. Annual cardiac checks are standard advice from vets.

The Boxer is a playful, energetic and devoted breed with a goofy streak that stays with it well into adulthood. Boxers love people and thrive on company, activity and games. They suit families who can offer plenty of time and exercise.

Boxers are exuberant, affectionate and often good with children, though their enthusiasm can be a lot for toddlers. They dislike being left alone for long stretches and can become destructive when bored. Early training and socialisation help channel their energy.
Choose a complete and balanced food suited to their age and activity level, and feed measured portions. Boxers can be prone to sensitive stomachs, so introduce any new food gradually over 7 to 10 days. Avoid vigorous exercise right after meals.
Boxers need at least an hour of daily activity, including play and training. Their short muzzle makes them sensitive to heat, so exercise early in the morning or late in the evening during hot weather, and never leave them in a parked vehicle.
The short coat needs only a weekly brush. Wipe facial folds, check ears, brush teeth and keep nails trimmed. Keep vaccinations, deworming and tick and flea prevention up to date.
Heat intolerance, skin sensitivities and heart and joint conditions are seen in the breed. Regular check-ups help catch problems early, and a vet can advise on screening for your dog.
